BC Christian Academy’s High School Program is designed for students in grades 9 to 12. We merge academic excellence with Bible-based principles, cultivating holistic development and preparing students for the future.

Our curriculum serves as a gateway to inquiry-based learning, collaboration, mastery, and problem-solving. We aspire to mold not only knowledgeable individuals but also lifelong learners dedicated to studying God’s truth and pursuing excellence. Values of Christ, Community, and Compassion are seamlessly woven into our educational approach, shaping the fabric of over 90 courses and electives spanning academics, athletics, and the arts.

We offer a rigorous academic environment with access to 90+ Advanced Placement courses and comprehensive programs in academics, athletics, and the arts. Grade 12 students complete essential Literacy and Numeracy Assessments required for graduation and post-secondary entry. Our curriculum features 6 learning streams: Math & Science, Humanities, Business, Fine Arts, Technology/Computer, and Ministry/Service. Our Christian Perspectives & Bible Curriculum includes: Old & New Testament Survey (Gr 9), Christology (Gr 10), World Religion & Apologetics (Gr 11), and “How to Stay Christian in College” (Gr 12).

BCCA successfully launched its first AP courses in September 2015 with AP English Literature and AP BC Calculus. Since then, we have expanded our AP offerings to include additional courses based on student interests. Motivated students can take up to four AP courses with live instructors on campus before graduating. Sudents interested in further academic challenges have access to a wide range of AP courses online while attending BCCA. With increasing competition for post-secondary admissions, Advanced Placement has become more valuable than ever. Today, more than 22,000 high schools worldwide offer AP courses, and over 2,900 colleges and universities grant credit or advanced placement to students excelling in these rigorous programs, benefiting millions of students annually.

Cultivating leaders with humility and compassion is at the core of our belief. Abundant leadership opportunities through student council, clubs, and community initiatives allow students to actively participate in shaping their communities. Engaging in local and international mission trips empowers our students to make a positive impact.

We also offer robust extracurricular opportunities, including an Athletics Program (volleyball, basketball, badminton, cross country, ultimate frisbee, and track & field), an ELL & International Program, and thriving arts programs in drama, visual, and media arts. Our Music Program includes concert and worship bands, a choir ensemble, and jazz band, while various clubs provide additional opportunities for student engagement and growth.

Graduation & Post Secondary Planning

Every BCCA Grade 12 student who meets the requirements graduates with a BC Dogwood Diploma. Post-secondary counseling begins in Grade 9, starting with CLE (Career Life Education) and CLC (Career Life Connections). In Grade 10, students receive a planning sheet around spring break to help map out their courses for Grades 10–12, ensuring they are fully equipped for their academic and career goals. High School Electives

Here at BC Christian Academy, we are forward-thinking, innovative, and care about equipping our students for the future. The BCCA Courses and Electives are available to our high school students after looking at their interests and BCCA’s own research of courses that will be beneficial to prepare our students for the future.

Woodworking

The Woodworking Elective is open to all Grade 8 -12 High School students. Creativity and appreciation of fine craftsmanship are being developed while encouraging students to complete their own designed projects. Safety and proper machine skills are taught and students are introduced how to use certain hand tools as well as power tools.

Drama/Theatre

Middle & high school students may be involved in drama groups and perform during spring or Christmas time. Students can audition for roles in the plays and musicals and act out dramatic and comedic scenes. In the elective course, students are introduced to a variety of topics including technical aspects of theatre like set preparation, lighting, sound, costume design, and make-up. They learn acting and improv skills through lectures, games, and activities. They are also taught how to write, direct, and act plays.

Guitar Building & Repair Elective

Guitar Building is open to our HS students who will be taught how to construct their own guitar over the course of the elective, and along the way learn about the practical applications of carpentry, math, and music.
