Parenting Workshop 2024

Dear BCCA Parents/Guardians,

We are thrilled to invite you to a special Parenting Workshop hosted by BCCA, designed to empower and equip you with practical tools for raising children in today’s world. As a community grounded in Christian values, we believe that parenting is a vital journey, and BCCA is committed to supporting you to ensure the best outcomes for our children.

This workshop will cover important topics such as power struggles and how to discipline children effectively in the home. Together, we will explore the importance of building a strong spiritual foundation, fostering effective communication, and addressing challenges unique to children today.

What will be covered at the Parent Workshop:

  • What are you doing daily to raise a healthy, independent adult for the future?
  • How can we reduce power struggles between parents and children?
  • How do we support children as they navigate physical, emotional, mental, and hormonal changes?
  • Do we discipline or punish? What essential life skills should pre-teens and teens learn?
  • How can fostering autonomy and connectedness lead to more lasting changes?
  • Opportunity to join Parent Group Discussions for 3-4 weeks following the workshop.

About the Speaker:
Shirley Dennison, our BCCA counsellor, is a Registered Professional Counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association since 2021 and has been working with students since 2019. She is passionate about supporting and encouraging her counsellees, guiding them to make decisions based on biblical principles. Shirley works with students from K to grade 12, as well as parents at BCCA.
