Board of Directors Property Update

The Board’s Strategic Planning Committee continues to actively be pursing various property options for the school.  The committee continues to have meetings with the Coquitlam Planning Dept. Officials, two such meetings in the past 2 months, as well as with Mayor Stewart of Coquitlam.  The committee also has kept in close contact with Mayor Greg Moore in Port Coquitlam.  Both Mayors have been very supportive of our school and have tried to assist as best as they can.

We need to also ensure the city councilors in both cities are supportive of BCCA.  If you have connections with any of the councilors in these two cities, please speak to them about BCCA and the importance of their support for the school in finding a permanent site.

We do not understand why God is holding back key decision makers with the city and the Coquitlam school district at this time, but we will continue to persevere until God clearly makes known to us the direction we should be taking.

The BCCA Strategic Planning Committee believes this will be an important year for the school, especially towards the end of 2016.

  1. We continue to attempt to negotiate with School District 43. SD43 is in the process of re-evaluating all of their excess lands and are looking to put together a master plan on how they should best utilize all of their assets in the district.  Until this report is completed (most like not until the summer of 2016), the district is not willing to accept any proposed offers for the current school site we are leasing.  Please pray that God will allow movement in this area as soon as possible, should this be His Will for BCCA.
  1. Our BCCA Hazel Drive properties (just under 10 acres), continue to grow in value. Our lands have increased in assessed value by 150% over the past 4 years.   The Coquitlam Visioning Planning Process for NE Burke Mtn. is still underway.  The process that was suppose to have been completed by Jan. 2016 has now been extended to October or November 2016.  At that time we should have some understanding of what zoning will be permitted for our lands, as the city begins to move into the NCP process.
  1. Other Burke Mtn. Sites – The Strategic Planning Committee continues to discuss with the Coquitlam city planning dept. and developers, other potential sites for a new school for BCCA on Burke Mtn.

Please continue to pray for your Board of Directors and the BCCA Strategic Planning Committee as they continue to meet and strategize the next steps that should be taken in 2016.
